Good morning - I know you'll be surprised, but message has nothing to do with the e-mail project! Attached are two announcements that will be posted to myMiami and the eReport soon. Each describes a change in services that will be taking effect within this calendar year. We'd appreciate your help in getting the word out to any faculty, staff, or students who will be effected by these changes and also welcome any feedback. The first announces that Internet Relay Chat (IRC) traffic into and out of campus will be discontinued as of July 15. Faculty and staff may request that the service be enabled for them, if needed, by contacting the Support Desk. We don't currently have plans for enabling students to use this service - but please let us know if you are aware of any reasons why we should. The second announcement is about unauthenticated wireless access. What we call "guest access" will change and require authentication as of the end of this calendar year. Robert Howard is in charge of developing a path for providing guest access that will keep us within current best practices and legal requirements. There will be more information released as that process gets underway. If you have any questions or suggestions about either, please don't hesitate to reply to me.
