* Don't lock yourself into thinking that technology is the only way to achieve wider culture, when all kinds of things like wars, alarums, shacks, old books, and even fashions have achieved this in the past. * Culture isn't a bunch of people going in the same direction, it's a bunch of people freed from friction. To enact heterogeneity you do not impose homogenous constraints. Joyce's gambit in Finnegans Wake gave him less freedom to use different styles, not more. * The most important thing about a Florence Effect is that it still requires individual genius to get somewhere. The genius grows the fruits; the Florence Effect just makes sure that the fruits are clearly seen on the tree. * Technological constructions prove to be orthogonal to growing fruits, perhaps in a similar way to how when you build an art studio many of the best painters will go out and paint plein air. That does not mean that art studios are useless! * One can also build an art studio in such a way that the very art studio itself is a work of art. To do so, one might have to believe that the art studio is going to be used in a certain way, but we can easily imagine too that this is not essential.
